I really like this, and I hardly ever like mandelbulb stuff. The colors and composition both show that you have quite the eye for aesthetics.
I do have a suggestion for render/image quality though. There is a bit of aliasing, which is unfortunate because a fractal like this really deserves to be shown off to its full potential. I don't know much about m3d's rendering settings but if you rendered this quite large and then scaled down in photoshop I bet it would turn out very smooth and sharp and just look excellent in general.
But really, that's a small technical complaint - artistically, this is a rare gem.
In 'The Sirens Of Titan' by Kurt Vonnegut Jnr Winston Niles Rumfoord is a man out of his time. His space ship encountered a chronosynclastic infundibulum on a routine trip between Earth and Mars, and his is now spread out in a complex spiralling wave form stretching between the solar system and Betelgeuse. Where this temporarily intersects the orbit of a planet he manifests in human form, accompanied by his chronosyclastically infundibulated dog, Kazak. Fortunately for him the infundibular waveform tracks the orbit of Saturn's moon, Titan, where he is manifested all the time.
This deviation of yours could well be the famed 'cronosynclastic infundibulum', a dangerous flaw in space-time, waiting to 'spaghettify' unwary astronauts and turn them into Ananchronauts, Like Rumfoord. You can see my tributes to Kurt Vonnegut here aegiandyad.deviantart.com/gall… . R.I.P. Kilgore Trout, Billy Pilgrim, Malachi Constant and Eliot Rosewater!
In the artist's notes to When The Ice Nine Gote Loose there is a link to a pdf file containing all of Cat's Cradle; a sort of comic inferno of a novel, a morality tail of human hubris and stupidity and a giant cocking of the snook towards God the Utterly Indifferent. That's the same kind of God who plays with the lives and destinies of people like Malachi Constant and even Winston Nile Rumfoord.
